Everyone needs help sometimes.  Here are some free resources for students of all ages.  

Explora for Elementary Schools  A student interface designed for use in kindergarten through grade 5 with a focus on the arts, literature, biography, current events, geography, culture, health, history, math, science and more.

 INDIANA KIDS (INDIANA UNIVERSITY).  Sign up for this free, enrollment-based academic tutoring and mentoring program for students in grades 6–12. After enrolling, students meet with mentors to make arrangements for in-person and online tutoring dates. Help with English, social studies, science, and math assignments is available. Indiana Kids is a collaboration between Indiana University and Serve Indiana.

IXL Words & Letters.  From phonics and reading comprehension to writing strategies and more, IXL helps learners develop the communication skills needed for success in school, college, and career.

IXL Math.  Gain fluency and confidence in math! IXL helps students master essential skills at their own pace through fun and interactive questions, built in support, and motivating awards.  (Pre-K to Calculus) 

 IXL Science.  IXL Science helps students build lasting critical thinking abilities. With IXL, they'll analyze data, build new vocabulary, and deepen their understanding of the world around them.  (2nd through 8th Grade)

Primary Search  Contains full text for more than 80 popular elementary school magazines. All full-text articles are assigned reading level indicators (Lexiles). Additionally, Primary Search includes the Encyclopedia of Animals™, and features the Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, which provides students with easy-to-read encyclopedic entries written specifically for kids. This database also provides the American Heritage Children's Dictionary and thousands of relevant photos, maps and flags.

WORLD FACTBOOK. The World Factbook provides information on the history, people and society, government, economy, energy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 267 world entities.

  Ask Rose  Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s AskRose Homework Help is a free math and science tutoring service for Indiana students and other students in grades 6-12. Students can call 877-ASK-ROSE, email, or chat live with a friendly tutor to work through and better understand homework assignments.

  Read It! Read It!™ is designed for middle and high school students and anyone who has a basic foundation in English grammar and reading but needs adapted reading material for a variety of subjects. The customized articles and practice quizzes support ELL success and promote reading comprehension across a variety of school subjects and life skill areas. Read It! also offers resources to help build background knowledge, conduct research and improve study skills.

KNOW YOUR NEWS: RECOGNIZING GOOD & BAD SOURCES. Resource from MONROE COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY (INDIANA).       Information is everywhere, so how do you know what's reliable? This guide offers tips on differentiating between good and bad sources of information.

  MAS Ultra - High School Edition  Designed specifically for high school libraries, contains full text for 500 popular magazines. Full text is also available for over 85,000 biographies and over 80,000 primary source documents. Also contains nearly 400 reference books (including the Columbia Encyclopedia and the CIA World Fact Book); an Image Collection of nearly 600,000 photos, maps and flags, color PDFs; and expanded full-text backfiles (back to 1975) for key magazines.
